We've been in our house for 5 years and we're now having to repair or replace this product for the THIRD time. The first time it started leaking we replaced it with the same product. Now it's leaking again and I'm not sure I want to replace itwith the same product again. When it doesn't leak it works perfectly. By the way, I used professional plumbers to install this product both times - I did not install it myself.

waterstone 5000

I had a professional plumber install the waterstone 5000 in the summer of 2007 - in under 4 years of operation it has now had a fire - the element caught on fire, resulting in the fire department coming out. You've got to be kidding me?! Even the lowly ISE tank for about $150 just started leaking after SIX years. I will not buy again!

Worked very well for 6 years then overheated and leaked. Probably will replace with same product because of all the fixtures, hoses etc. but believe it's life is inordinately short for such a basic water heater. Probably because it was made in the USA where there's damn little to be proud of anymore.
